MANSEHRA:

Thirty-five constables were dismissed on Saturday by the police department here on the grounds of having obtained employment through fake educational credentials. Meanwhile, sources claim that no case has been registered against them because of their ‘political backing’.

The police department had earlier announced the posts on June 21 for appointing constables in Hazara division’s newly created Torghar district.

The government employed 132 out of the 500 applicants after prerequisite physical tests and interviews and successful candidates were asked to submit their educational credentials.

During vetting, the police was notified that several of the candidates possessed fake secondary school certificates.

According to officials, a committee, headed by District Coordination Officer Muhammad Fareed Khan, investigated the matter by sending the certificates of all 132 candidates to the Abbottabad Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education for verification. It was confirmed by the board authorities that at least 35 of the submitted certificates were false.

District Police Officer (DPO), Torghar, Naeebullah Khan told The Express Tribune that all recruits submitting false educational certificates has been dismissed under Rule 1221 of the Pakistan Police Rules.

The matter of taking legal action was, however, evaded by the DPO.
