Work on KMC projects to begin soon, says Sindh governor

Says technical education could play a vital role in the country's progress

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Imran Ismail has assured that work on projects under the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) will soon be started and those already completed will shortly be inaugurated by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of National Project Competition at Dawood University of Engineering and Technology on Saturday, the governor said some of the KMC projects were approved by the finance department, work on which would begin soon. Also, the inauguration of a megaproject was expected on February 28, he said, adding that funds of Rs6 billion would also be given to KMC.

Speaking on the matter of the Sindh police chief's replacement, Ismail said that he had discussed it with the chief minister but no consensus was reached.

The governor further said that all of the apex court's directives pertaining to Karachi Circular Railway would be duly followed.

Addressing the students at the ceremony, he said that many young graduates aimed to try their luck abroad, thinking that they didn't have enough opportunities in Pakistan, but that was not the case, as evident by schemes like Kamiyab Naujawan. He urged the students to carefully opt for a field they think they would do well in.

The governor also reflected that technical education could play a vital role in the country's progress.
