Fans tell Imtiaz Ali to do better than 'Love Aaj Kal 2'

Ace director has failed to impress with latest release

Fans clearly seem to be unhappy with Imtiaz Ali's latest release Love Aaj Kal 2. And they’re not holding back in letting the film-maker know that.

On Friday, Ali took to Instagram to celebrate six years of his film Highway. Sharing a couple of stills from the 2014 road drama starring Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda, he wrote, "Remembering the journey...six years of Highway.”

However, the comments section of his post soon turned into a platform for fans to express disappointment over Love Aaj Kal 2, reported Outlook India. One fan commented, "Please make your next original and honest. Don’t mind if you take 10 years to come up with it but please don’t plagiarise your own work again under any kind of pressure."

Another fan added, "Please sir, make movies like Socha Na Tha, Jab We Met, Highway, Love Aaj Kal and Rockstar, instead of Jab Harry Met Sejal and Love Aaj Kal 2. It is not necessary for you to make a film every year; please wait for good script and storyline. You are a genius, no doubt about that. Love you, sir! I'm your real big fan."
Another user said, "All is amiss in Love Aaj Kal 2. Totally disappointed."

Ali is known for his introspective love stories. His past works such as Jab We Met (2007), Love Aaj Kal (2009), Rockstar (2011) and Highway (2014) have received both critical and commercial success owing to their realistic yet entertaining approach.

However, the director has failed to impress with his last few releases, namely Tamasha (2015), Jab Harry Met Sejal (2017) and most recently, Love Aaj Kal 2. The latter hit theatres on Valentine's Day and stars Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan in the lead roles.
