MULTAN: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) gave four parks of the city the status of heritage sites on Thursday.

A notification stated that the PHA declared Qila Kuhna Qasim Park, Shah Shams Park, Aam Khas Bagh and Bagh Langay Khan as cultural heritage and started efforts to preserve the historical glory of these sites.

PHA Director-General Muhammad Afzal Nasir said the beautification and restoration work has been started at Qila Kuhna Qasim Park while work would be started soon at Shah Shams Park.

He said Bagh Langay Khan and Aam Khas Bagh have historical status as they had been established in the Mughal era. He said different initiatives would be taken to restore the historical glory of these parks. “Some of the trees in these two parks are more than 100 years old,” he said. The PHA DG said swings for children would be installed at these parks. He said the beautification of model roads was being ensured as more than 200 large trees have been planted at Sahu Chowk, Qadirpur Ran and Old Shujabad Road.

He said beautification work has been started at the entry and the exit points of the city in connection with Pakistan Super League and spring season.
