K-P starts preparing budget for 2020-21

Rs334 billion will be allocated for funding development projects in both settled and the merged districts

PESHAWAR: With just over four months to go, the provincial government has started preparing budgetary estimates for various departments of the province for the fiscal year 2020-21.

A source in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Finance Department has said that that Rs334 billion will be allocated for funding development projects in both settled and the merged districts.

The source said that the Planning and Development department is expected to get an allocation of Rs26 billion.

Of the total development funds in the expected budget, Rs115 billion could be allocated for the settled districts, including Rs10.66 billion will be allocated for primary and secondary education, Rs2 billion for police and prison, Rs6.33 billion for higher education, the source said. At least Rs13 billion will be allocated for the Communication and Works department, Rs10.49 billion for irrigation, Rs4.41 billion for agriculture, livestock and fishery department and Rs4.17 billion for public works engineering.
