2.15m children vaccinated in Karachi's anti-polio drive 

So far, 12 polio cases have been reported in Pakistan in the current year, of which five are from Sindh.

KARACHI: The seven-day anti-polio campaign in Karachi, which began on February 10, ended on Sunday.

According to the anti-polio cell, 2.15 million children under the age of five years, against a target of 2.3 million children, were administered polio vaccine across all six districts of Karachi during the course of the campaign, in which 13,000 polio workers participated. Moreover, 5,000 police officials were deployed to provide security to the polio workers, who went door to door and visited several schools to administer polio vaccine.

With the recent campaign in the city coming to an end, a new one is set to be launched today (Monday), which will cover 6.7 million children under five years in Sindh’s other districts. The campaign will continue till February 12.

So far, 12 polio cases have been reported in Pakistan in the current year, of which five are from Sindh.
