The clashes took place in the Masozai tribal area, where the lashkarhave been combating with the militants for the last three days. They claimed to have killed five militants; however, the claims could not be verified.
The army has launched an air and ground offensive in Kurram region on the Afghan border, its first major military operation since the May 2 killing of Osama bin Laden.
In a separate incident, one security personnel was injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) went off in the central Kurram Agency.
Meanwhile, NATO helicopters intruded into Pakistani territory in Kurram Agency on Saturday, said officials.
The helicopters intruded almost 8km into Pakistani airspace, but returned back when they were warned.
