Tales Of Yonder: Folklore conference to be held in Karachi

SEHWAN: A conference of experts in Sindhi folklore (sughars) will be organised in Karachi after Ramazan, said the Sindh culture secretary Abdul Aziz Uqaili on Friday. "Through the conference we plan to introduce a splendid aspect of Sindhi culture to the nation and world at large," he said. "The late scholar Dr Nabi Bux Baloch did extensive research on the subject. We plan to publish his unpublished work as well." Sindhi folklore experts across the country attend the urs celebrations of various sufi saints in the province and conduct a small-scale conference. They usually discuss district related matters, music, literature, politics, history and culture.
