Man locks up father to bar him from voting for BJP in Delhi election

Man later reveals that he took the step after he got inspired from his friend who performed the stunt with his parents

In a bid to stop from voting in Delhi Assembly elections conducted in India — which concluded on Monday after aggressive campaigning by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and Aaam Admi Party (AAP) supporters – a man locked up father in a room in order to stop him from voting for the BJP.

According to India Times, the man in his 20s, was hell-bent to not let his father cast his righteous vote as he was ascertain that he would vote for Modi’s ruling party.

The man later revealed that he took this step after he got inspired from his friend, who lived in Delhi and performed the stunt with his parents.

Delhi recorded a voter turnout of over 61 per cent in the hard-fought assembly election.

Followers of an upstart Indian political party danced in the streets on Tuesday after inflicting a crushing defeat on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s right-wing party in a key election in the capital.

The poll was the first electoral test for the BJP after it passed a controversial nationality law which opponents say is anti-Muslim.
