ISLAMABAD:

The government has decided to allow sports players to import air guns of international standards, for which changes will be made in the import policy order.

At present, only selected associations and clubs are permitted to import air guns and that too under ‘transfer of residence’ and ‘personal baggage’ schemes. The documents say that by such time the country is able to produce air guns of Olympics standards, the sportsmen should be allowed to import the guns at 50 per cent customs duty, which will provide protection to the domestic industry.
