QUETTA: Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Thursday ordered the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) to immediately end gas load-shedding in Quetta and its suburbs.

BHC judge Justice Abdullah Baloch heard the constitutional petition against gas-load shedding in the provincial capital.

The applicant and officials of Sui Southern Gas were present on the occasion.

During the hearing, the court rejected the explanation of SSGC authorities as unsatisfactory and ordered them to immediately restore proper gas supply and end its unannounced load-shedding in Quetta and other areas.

Munir Ahmed Kakar had filed the petition against unannounced gas load-shedding in the provincial capital after the gas crisis aggravated in the severe cold.

Earlier, citizens took to the streets against the issue of low gas pressure in the provincial capital and blocked three arteries - Spinny, Sirki, and Fatima Jinnah – throwing traffic out of gear and leading to gridlocks.
