Cop martyred in Harnai

QUETTA: A policeman was martyred, while a member of Taglighi Jamaat suffered injuries, when an armed man opened fire inside a local mosque in Balochistan`s Harnai town on Wednesday.

Harnai Deputy Commissioner Azeem Jan Dumhar said cop Muhammad Waseem accompanied with members of Tablighi Jamaat reached Jamia Mosque, where an unknown armed man, who was already present there opened fire, leaving two people including a policeman injured.

He said, soon after receiving information, the police along with rescuers reached the site and shifted the wounded to a nearby hospital.  Later, while being referred to Quetta, the injured cop succumbed to his injuries.

The attacker managed to escape from the site after the incident, said the DC, adding that the area has been cordoned off and search for the accused was underway.
