Safraz Shah murder case: ATC examines DSP Altaf Hussain

Defence lawyers were not ready to cross examine Hussain.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Supervisory Police Officer of Khawaja Ajmer Nagri, Altaf Hussain, testified before Anti-Terrorism Court (I) for the Karachi division here on Friday.


In his examination in chief conducted by Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) Muhammad Khan Buriro, Hussain said that on June 11, he recieved a phone call from the office of DIG West Sultan A Khawaja who called him to his office. "I was told by DIG saheb that he has constituted a team to investigate the Sarfraz Shah murder case on the directive of the Supreme Court in suo motu proceedings and that he had permission from the CCPO to include him [Altaf] in the investigating team".

Hussain, who assisted the specially designated Investigating Officer DIG Sultan A Khawaja, narrated the details of arrests and recoveries made by him or made in his presence.

He deposed about the arrest of Afsar Khan, the man in the white clothes who had dragged and pushed the deceased Sarfraz Shah towards the Rangers.

As the defence lawyers were not ready to cross examine Hussain, the court adjourned till Saturday morning.
