ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court in Islamabad recorded the statements via video link of three more eyewitnesses in the Dr Imran Farooq murder case.

Dr Farooq – a senior member of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement – was found murdered near his home in North London on September 16, 2010. According to the Scotland Yard, the murder took place in the evening when Farooq was returning home after finishing work at a local pharmacy.

An autopsy determined the cause of death as being head trauma and stab wounds to the neck.

During the proceedings, the accused, Mauzzam, Khalid and Mohsin were produced before the court under strict security.

The statements of two more witnesses were recorded through video link from the UK Magistrate Court. Lara and Alice, both neighbours of the deceased, told what they saw.

"I gave my video statement to the police. I saw a man hitting [Dr Farooq] a brick at 5:25. I called the police and told them to come quickly. When I opened the door, I saw my neighbour lying on the ground," said Lara. “I cannot say for sure how many people attacked my neighbour but I saw one.”
After a brief break the proceedings resumed.

Witness Max Melon Davis gave his statement. Davis said, “In the evening, I saw two men overpower Dr Imran Farooq. One was holding him while the other was beating him.”

After recording the statements, the court adjourned the hearing until 2pm on Wednesday (today).

Dr Farooq’s wife and two other witnesses have already had their statements recorded.
