Victim says she was raped by the bus conductor, driver

JHELUM: A teenaged girl has claimed that she was allegedly assaulted in a bus and then thrown from the vehicle in an unconscious state near the Chungi area of Jhelum.

Rescue 1122 officials had found the victim and shifted her to District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) for treatment.

Jhelum DPO Syed Hammad Abid told The Express Tribune that in her initial statement, the victim stated that she had boarded a bus to return home after attending a madrassa in Talagang. The victim told police that all other passengers disembarked at the Dina bus stop, leaving her, the bus conductor and the driver. As the bus moved on, the bus conductor allegedly overpowered her and raped her. The bus kept moving during this. The conductor then took the wheel and the driver raped her.

The DPO said that they have registered a case against the suspects based on the victim’s statement. He added that an investigation team has been formed under SP Shazia Sarwar which has met with the victim and her family. Further, samples from the victim have been sent to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency.
