SHC refuses to hold immediate hearing of petition against Mirza

Petition filed by UNHCR appealed to court to order FIR against senior minister for provoking violence in Karachi.

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) refused to hold an immediate hearing on Thursday of a petition filed to lodge an FIR against senior provincial minister Zulfiqar Mirza.

The petition was filed by General Secretary United Human Rights Commission Pakistan (UHRCP) Rana Faizul Hassan on Tuesday which claimed that Mirza's incensed statement provoked arson attacks in Karachi claiming 15 lives and a loss of Rs5 billion.

He appealed to the court to order the lodging of an FIR against Mirza and to hold an immediate hearing.

The SHC rejected the justification for an immediate hearing saying that the petition will be processed after holidays.
