Swabi District Police Officer (DPO) Imran Shahid on Tuesday said that the centre was set up on the directions of the new Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Inspector General (IG) Sanaullah Abbasi. Shahid added that women can submit their complaints with the police at the centre.
Moreover, he said that similar facilitation centres will be established at all police stations in the district.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, DPO Shahid said that police in the district have been put on the right track and women will have access to the police through the facilitation centres.
To make it easier for women to access the police, he said that these centres will be staffed with women. “Cases related to sexual harassments, family disputes, women documents verification, properties disputes and general complaints of women could be reported in the women facilitation centre,” he said, adding that a police assistant will look after the affairs of the centre.
To a question, he said with such initiatives, crimes against women in the district will be addressed swiftly.
Women facilitation centre in-charge Faiza said that they will work hard to address women issues and facilitate them in every possible way.
