It’s been a decade since Shah Rukh Khan played a leading man in a Karan Johar film. While SRK did made a cameo in 2016’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, the last film he fully worked on with Karan Johar was My Name Is Khan.

It appears that the two would make their return as a unit soon. According to Bollywood Hungama, Kjo is currently working on a full fledge film with Khan.”Something different and yet very very mainstream. Because SRK is not in an experimental mood after what happened to his last film Zero. Karan Johar is looking at directing Shah Rukh in a blockbuster,” the daily quoted an unnamed source. The film is also said to star Ranbir Kapoor.

Recently Johar went in self-critical mode as he highlighted the short comings of 2001 super hit Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham – or K3G as it is fondly called . The director described it as “the biggest slap in his face and the biggest reality check he has ever gotten in life,” reported NewsD.

“I thought that I’m making the biggest film in Hindi cinema since Mughal-e-Azam, until Aamir Khan’s Lagaan and Farhan Akhtar’s Dil Chahta Hai came out,” he said.

Johar went on to point out that K3G lacked in originality, being an amalgamation of several Bollywood classics.  “I took the storyline of Kabhi Kabhie and the family values of Hum Aapke Hain Koun and made this mush of a film. K3G is the single biggest slap in my face and my biggest reality check,” he said.
