HYDERABABD: Former MPA and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Mirpurkhas information secretary Khairunnisa Mughal has said that the lives of her family and herself are being threatened by her uncle and brother-in-law.

In a press conference in Mirpurkhas on Saturday, she alleged that her uncle, Shahnawaz Mughal, had been trying to forcibly occupy her family's property since her father's death. She added that her brother-in-law, DSP Mehboob Loond, was also working with her uncle.

According to Khairunnisa, her two relatives had joined hands with her political opponents to launch a smear campaign against her, linking her with the town's criminals. The PPP local leader went on to blame certain media workers in the area for conniving with her opponents.

"Some sections of the media falsely reported a few days ago that the police raided my residence and arrested some outlaws there," she said, claiming that the raid had been conducted at another house in her neighbourhood, where some men involved in gambling were detained. Referring to the incident's FIR, which did not mention her or her residence, she demanded protection for herself and her family.
