FAISALABAD: The police have decided to reopen dozens of serious cases involving influential figures that were shut on political grounds over the last five years, sources revealed on Friday.

Faisalabad police have started preparing lists from case details to arrest the accused and sent them to jail. Sources also claim that the deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) had shut several serious cases within their circle from 2014 to 2019 that either involved influential suspects that enjoyed political backing or they had went missing.

On Prime Minister Imran Khan’s last visit to Faisalabad, he had directed the Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Shoaib Dastagir to put all bullies and gangsters behind bars.

In response, the IGP ordered regional police offices (RPOs), district police offices (DPOs) and city police offices (CPOs) of the province to arrest all the influential suspects involved in the heinous crimes.
