K-P, NDRMF sign Rs613.8m agreement

The money will be spent to strengthen, expand emergency rescue services in 17 districts of kK-P through Rescue 1122

ISLAMABAD: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government and the National Disaster Risk Management Fund (NDRMF) on Thursday signed an agreement for extending a grant of up to Rs429.695 million to strengthen and expand emergency rescue services in 17 districts of the province through Rescue 1122.

The agreement was signed during a ceremony at the NDRMF Office in Islamabad on Thursday. The total cost of the project is slated to be Rs613.85 million.

Around 70% of which, or Rs429.695 million will be funded by NDRMF whereas the provincial government will contribute the remaining 30%, worth Rs184.155 million. The project is expected to be completed within 18 months, focusing on the provision of ambulances, fire brigade vehicles, surveillance drones, scuba equipment, and other search and rescue equipment.

The project’s interventions are in line with the National Disaster Management Plan. Apart from this, NDRMF has also financed the Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) government in strengthening rescue services there.
