QUETTA: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Senator Sirajul Haq has said the politicians and political parties were equally responsible for weakening democracy and democratic institutions in the country.

Speaking at a press conference in Khuzdar the other day, the JI chief said majority of the political parties had become a property of a particular family in Pakistan and their main objective was to safeguard their personal interests.

“Incapable and corrupt politicians provide opportunity to anti-democratic forces to intervene in politics,” he said.

The JI chief said main political parties displayed unity when it came to the matters of their own interests but hardly show any willingness to resolve the problems of the common people. “It is neither America nor India but corrupt and weak system the main problem of Pakistan,” he said. Highlighting the problems of Balochistan, he lamented that the past and present governments never showed any interest to address them.
