Cuba, Pakistan enjoy close ties despite geographical distance

PCSA and PCDA celebrate 61st anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban revolution

Despite the great geographical distances between them, Cuba and Pakistan continue to maintain excellent relations based on friendship and mutual aid.

This was stated by the Cuban Ambassador Gabriel Tiel Capote during a ceremony to celebrate the 61st anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution.

The event had been organised by the Pakistan-Cuba Social Forum in coordination with the Embassy of Cuba in Pakistan and with the support of the Pakistani-Cuba Doctors Association.

Capote highlighted the date and pointed out aspects related to the Cuban economy, the approval of the Cuban constitution, achievements of the revolution and the consequences of the blockade imposed by the US against Cuba which has been intensified by the incumbent US administration.

Talking about the relations that exist between Cuba and Pakistan, Capote said that they had strengthened after the recent visit of the Cuban vice president; as well as the prospects offered to expand them to the economic-commercial sector. The bilateral ties, he said, advance every day so that the economic-commercial, cultural and other areas can develop satisfactorily, to the benefit of both countries.

The ambassador said that they celebrate the anniversary to remember the legacy of Fidel Castro Ruz and the commitment of the new generations to the revolution.

“The Cuban youth is not a relay but continuity,” he said.

Pakistani speakers Ramzan Moghal, Dr Jamal Nasir, Jam Khursheed, Agha Amjad highlighted the contribution of the Cuban Revolution to humanity, in particular to Pakistan, the role played by Castro and the friendship that unites the two peoples.

Writer Dr Afshan Malik said that Cuba has made its health sector a role model and hoped that when all of the Pakistani students studying in Cuba return to their homeland as medical doctors, a special friendship between the two countries will develop.
