PESHAWAR: The newly appointed Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Education Minister Akbar Ayub Khan Tuesday said that on the directives of the chief minister transfer of teachers has been banned and directed teachers to follow the transfer policy strictly.

Ayub said this during a briefing after assuming charge as the K-P Minister of Education.

Ayub said that whoever seeks to push for transfer through political or other means would face consequences.

The Education Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry and other senior education officers were present on the occasion.

The education minister said that he would make efforts to bring positive reforms in education sector and would work in accordance with the vision of the Prime Minister Imran Khan to improve the education department.

He said that education builds nations and he would utilise all the available resources to improve quality of education in the province.

Ayub served as the communication and works minister in the provincial cabinet for one-and-a-half years. However, when he was given the charge of the elementary and secondary education department, the decision was widely criticised especially on social media because according to his nomination papers, the minister has only passed the matric examinations and has not studied beyond.
