PM Imran inaugurates Huawei ICT Lab at NAMAL University

Premier briefed about state of the art information and communications technology facility

MIANWALI:

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday visited Mianwali and inaugurated Huawei ICT Lab at NAMAL University, where he was briefed about state of the art information and communications technology facility at the institute.

He also inaugurated a Model Police Station.

The premier was given a tour of the station, as Inspector General of Punjab Police (IGP) Arif Nawaz Khan briefed the premier about the special measures regarding police stations in the province.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar was also present during the inauguration ceremony.

After the inauguration, the premier planted a tree in the vicinity of the police station.

On the directives of the prime minister, several steps will be taken to improve the police system in the province, said a statement by the PM Office.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Complaints will be present in different districts of the province and front desks will be set up in all 716 police stations in Punjab to address the complaints of citizens.

‘Model police stations providing people relief’

The premier also ordered the implementation of an open-door policy by all Regional Police Offices (RPO) and District Police Offices (DPO).

On Friday, Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Shoaib Dastagir chaired a high-level meeting at Central Police Office (CPO) to discuss the ways to provide relief to the citizens, change 'thana culture' and maintain trust between the public and the police.

Other senior police officials were also present during the meeting.

The IGP, while speaking on the occasion, said that in the police department, the police station has a fundamental position and steps would be taken to improve the working of police stations.

He highlighted that 50 police stations were being upgraded as model police stations in different districts.
