Zardari, Karzai firm on continuing fight against terrorism

Leaders discuss border violation issues, shelling by Pakistani troops.

During a one-on-one meeting at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday, President Asif Ali Zardari and Afghan President Hamid Karzai reiterated that they would continue the ongoing fight against terrorism and extremism till the restoration of regional peace.


The meeting focused on a range of issues, including bilateral relations and the regional situation with specific reference to Afghanistan’s scenario after the beginning of the US troops’ withdrawal.

President Zardari, who arrived in Kabul on a day-long visit to offer ondolences over the death of Karzai’s younger brother, also used the opportunity to hold a one-on-one meeting with Karzai.

Spokesperson to the president Farhatullah Babar said that President Zardari told his Afghan counterpart that Pakistan strongly supported Afghanistan’s peace and stability. They also discussed the issue of border violations and attacks by militants from the Afghan side into Pakistani territories at the Pak-Afghan border, and in retaliation, shelling of mortars by the Pakistani troops.

We have to be friendly with all our neighbors without any exception. It is nice to see that Pakistan govt is seeing eye to eye with the Afghan govt for a change. Let us be honest and fair with all our neighbors.
