LDA tightens noose against illegal housing schemes

The commission has decided to initiate an inquiry following concerns raised by the development authority

LAHORE: Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) called on Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General Sumair Ahmad Syed on Thursday to apprise him of the modus operandi of the department for safeguarding public interest in the real estate sector.

Member of the commission, Dr Shahzad Anser, told The Express Tribune that CCP is willing to collaborate with LDA to tighten noose against illegal housing schemes that deceive the buyers through false marketing in the provincial capital.

He said the CCP initiated a suo moto action under section 37(1) of the Competition Act 2010 against illegal housing projects, involved in deceptive marketing of their land within the metropolis.

The commission had decided to initiate an inquiry following concerns raised by the development authority.
