ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan’s exports reached $25.290 billion during financial year 2010-11 despite deteriorating law and order situation, low foreign investment and international financial position, a statement issued by the ministry of commerce stated on Monday. Export target for the last financial year was set at $20.011 billion, whereas the total value of this year’s exports surpassed the set targets and reached $25.290 billion. Federal Minister for Commerce Makhdoom Amin Fahim termed it a landmark achievement and congratulated industrialists, traders, ministry of commerce, and Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, the statement added. This target is achieved by redirecting exports from traditional trade routes to new routes, the statement quoted the minister for commerce as saying that this achievement has proven that Pakistan has the potential to increase its exports.
