Ever since Disney acquired Fox, Deadpool fans have expressed worry  about the media giant not going forward with the R-rated franchise. Actor Ryan Reynolds who plays the lead role in the film, confirmed that a third installment was in the works. in an interview with Live with Kelly and Ryan.

"Yeah, we're working on it right now with the whole team," he said. "We're over at Marvel [Studios] now, which is like the big leagues all of a sudden. It's kind of crazy. So yeah, we're working on it."

According to an article published on CNET the morning show interview got widespread attention after being shared on a sub-reddit.

In the interview Reynolds  also talked about meeting veteran pop singer Mariah Carey for the first time. He revealed that he gave Carey a Deadpool mask since her son was a huge fan of the franchise.

Details of the film are still under the wraps. It is not yet known if either Tim Miller or David Leitch, directors of Deadpool and the sequel respectively would be involved in the third part. Tim Miller had refused the sequel on creative grounds earlier on.

Back in October this year, Reynolds was reported to have visited Marvel Studio offices. In a tweet the actor had joked about auditioning for the role 'Anthony Stark" but was unsuccessful in landing the part. "Auditioned for the role of “Anthony Stark”. Didn’t come even remotely close, but the nice man with the taser escorted me to the ground" Reynolds had tweeted.

Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick  had previously confirmed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that Marvel has given them the go signal of expanding the character in MCU. "Marvel has promised to continue to let us play in the R-rated Deadpool universe, and the hope is that they will also let us veer into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) a little bit as well and play in that sandbox." Reese had noted.

Earlier on actor TJ Miller who also stars in the franchise had talked about his reservations regarding a third film. "Because they're doing X-Force, they haven't decided if they want to do Deadpool 3," Miller said in an interview with Comic Book News. "And to be honest, I almost would rather they didn't and here's why."
