KARACHI: Amongst the twinkling city lights, the Quaid's mausoleum coruscated in a multitude of colours and breath-taking imagery as music filled the air on the night of December 25th. The fascinating light and sound show was part of Sindh Rangers' Shukriya Jinnah campaign, organised to honour the 144th birth anniversary of Pakistan's founder Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

According to a Sindh Rangers official, the aim of the event was to not only celebrate Jinnah's life but to also remember his struggle for the cause of Pakistan and be thankful for the nation and freedom that we have today. "On this day, we hope to take the Quaid's legacy forward and continue his mission for a country that is safe, inclusive and peaceful."

Sindh Rangers dedicated the month of December to commemorate the life and struggle of the Quaid and organised several ceremonies across the province in the spirit of gratitude. The ceremonies, which included various sports tournaments, declamation contests, essay competitions and peace walks, offered students a chance to partake in the festivities and honour the vision of the Quaid- a man who laid his trust upon the youth and saw them as the nation builders of tomorrow.

The farewell ceremony for Sindh Rangers' month-long Shukriya Jinnah campaign took place at the resting place of the Quaid on December 25th. The event, which included a mesmerising light and sound show, was attended by notable personalities from the military as well as the civil society, including journalists, sports persons, celebrities and students. Documentaries pertaining to the Pakistan Movement were screened and the students were praised for their enthusiasm, before the fireworks went off and the mausoleum turned into a sight to behold.
