Quaid Day: Celebrities honour Jinnah on his birth anniversary

#QuaidDay is trending on twitter with everyone sharing their love and pride

As important as 25 December is around the world for marking the birth of a saviour, it is twice as important in Pakistan, where it marks the birth of two saviours; Christ, of course, and the father of the nation, Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

Commemorations are in order, with the twitterati out in troves to trend #ThankYouJinnah, #QuaideAzam and #QuaidDay, and our celebrities are joining in. Many have hit send on tweets about the Quaid, from simply thanking him for his services, to quoting his speeches.

Actor Hamza Ali Abbasi posted a classic portrait of Jinnah with the simple hashtag, Thank You Jinnah.

Baaji actor Amna Ilyas also tweeted about the Quaid, however, posted a questionable picture. Is that Jinnah for real, or are we just too cynical to not quite catch the resemblance? “Wish we were half as cool as you!” she wrote.

Faysal Quraishi tweeted, “Happy birthday, father of the nation,” before quoting him. “Failure is unknown to me,” he wrote.

Host and aesthetician, Dr. Shaista Lodhi tweeted, “Hope there will be a time we will make Pakistan as what the Quaid wanted. Jinnah sahab, the nation will never forget you.”

Actor Shaan Shahid expressed his heartfelt sentiments in a lengthy tweet calling Jinnah a true leader. “I wish I could give you your vision of Pakistan as a gift on your birthday but I promise that you will always find me working to build Pakistan on your vision in my capacity,” he shared.

Fakhr-e-Alam also joined in, posting a very relevant quote that the country really needs to revisit and implement. “You are free; you are free to go to your temples. You are free to go to your mosques or to any other places of worship in this State of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion, caste or creed—that has nothing to do with the business of the state,” he wrote.

Here’s wishing our country can fulfill the dreams of the Quaid and get back on its feet soon.
