ISLAMABAD: The inquiry committee formed on the murder of a student during a clash between two groups at International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has completed the probe.

The clash on December 12 had left Altafur Rehman dead and 20 students injured. Police have already arrested a number of nominated suspects and investigations were underway.

Acting on the committee’s recommendation, the student adviser and provost have been removed from their seats.

As per two separate notifications issued by the deputy director of the Human Resource Department, the Student Adviser Assistant Professor Dr Tariq Javed and Provost Shoaib Abdullah have been sacked from the positions.

However, the deputy student adviser would keep performing his duties as per routine, the document stated.
