Robberies in DHA: Residents consider stopping security payments

LAHORE:

Some residents of Defence Housing Authority may stop paying security charges to the authority on account of the high crime rate in the area.

“DHA has not taken any measures to improve security arrangements despite several requests,” one of the residents told The Express Tribune. He said several robberies had taken place in the housing authority in recent weeks.

“No arrangements have been made to check people entering and leaving the society,” he said.

According to the police record, 250 robberies were reported in DHA from January 1 to June 30. No arrests have been made in any of these cases so far.

Police officials blame the poor security on the DHA’s own guards.

“Instead of patrolling the streets, DHA guards remain stationed at particular points,” officials said.

They also said that DHA had no reliable mechanism to monitor its guards.

I am glad that it is happening in DHA. Not the robberies but not paying the guards who are not doing their job. Using the same logic of DHA, the Pakistani civilians should stop paying for the huge army. They have repeatedly failed to protect even our largest cities and attacks from the terrorists. Good thinking let us apply it uniformly against the uniformed officers! What is fair for the goose is fair for the gander.
