MQM delegation meets Zardari over Karachi violence

MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar said on Monday that MQM does not have any reservations about the PPP and both the parties will continue working as allies.

Dr Farooq Sattar led a delegation that met with the President Asif Ali Zardari at the Bilawal House in Karachi. Talking to the media after the meeting, the federal minister for overseas Pakistanis Farooq Sattar said that both MQM and the PPP want to normalise the situation with dialogue. It is the only way to resolve the issues of the masses, he said.

It was said that MQM will continue its alliance with the PPP. During the meeting it was reiterated that consensus on several issues is the need of the hour.

Talking on this occasion, Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malk said that both parties want to maintain peace in Karachi as it was central towards the peace of the country. He said all hostile forces will be dealt with strictly.

Malik said there are several elements who want to disrupt the peace of the city and that the government will not tolerate such elements. The intelligence agencies are alert and a fact finding committee will be formed to curb target killings, he promised.

Meanwhile, violence continues in the city of the Karachi. According to latest reports by police officials, gunmen on motorbikes shot dead 70 year old Ayub Naqvi near a Nazimabad petrol station.

Ayub Naqvi was a resident of North Nazimabad. In Sakhi Hasan Chorangi unknown gunmen on motorbikes opened fire on a rickshaw killing a person named Tabish and injured the rickshaw driver. A case has been registered and investigations are underway.
