LONDON:

England have named fast-bowler Tim Bresnan in their squad to face India in the first Test, which begins at Lord’s on Thursday, but left no place for Steven Finn.

The 26-year-old takes Finn’s place in the only change to the squad that beat Sri Lanka 1-0 in the recent Test series.

Yorkshire paceman Bresnan is returning to the squad for the first time since the fifth Ashes Test in January as the bowler missed the chance to build on his successful winter after a recurrence of a calf injury.

“The England team is looking forward to the challenge of taking on the top-ranked team in Test cricket,” said England national selector Geoff Miller.

Stuart Broad has also kept his place in the squad, despite a poor performance in the final ODI against Sri Lanka.

The squad includes Andrew Strauss, James Anderson, Ian Bell, Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad, Alastair Cook, Eoin Morgan, Kevin Pietersen, Matt Prior, Graeme Swann, Chris Tremlett and Jonathan Trott.
