Malik Ishaq’s release

Malik Ishaq’s release

KARACHI: This is with reference to your editorial of July 16 titled “The release of Malik Ishaq”, who is one of the founders of the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. He was released apparently due to lack of evidence. It seems that, one by one, all our so-called ‘strategic assets’ will be released. I would advise Mr Moonis Elahi to join Mr Ishaq’s party. That way no action will be taken against him.

This is with reference Aftab Kenneth Wilson's opinion (July 18) in response to your editorial of 16 July regarding release of Malik Ishaq. I fully endorse his views. Even if we have an independent judiciary now but unfortunately it is not liberal. Current judiciary's tilt towards right and center right is creating a wave of frustration among liberal people of Pakistan. It is disgusting that judiciary seems reluctant to precede Salman Taseer's murder case but they are very keen to restore Zafar Qureshi's authority for investigating NICL Scandal case. However ZQ is PML-N man. In the same way we can see judiciary softness for Anjum Aqeel but they are not ready to precede Asghar Khan's petitions regarding Mehran Bank Scandal in which Nawaz Sharif was involved. May I remind the honorable courts that delay in justice is justice delayed and not only justice be done but it should also have been visible.
