Lawyers boycott courts, security tightened at LHC

They delivered speeches over alleged torture of their peers held in different police stations

LAHORE: The lawyers observed a complete strike and boycotted the court proceedings at district courts as well as the Lahore High Court (LHC). No litigants were observed in the court premises, while the cases of the district courts were adjourned till the next date of hearing.

Around 200 lawyers assembled at the LHC to express solidarity with their colleagues arrested by the police.

Lawyers call for inquiry into PIC attack

They delivered fiery speeches against the government as well as the police over the alleged torture of their peers held in different police stations.

Police contingent including Rangers were deployed at the LHC to avoid any unpleasant incident. The routes leading to the court room of LHC Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan were blocked. Cameramen were denied coverage of the protest held at the court.
