KARACHI: An alleged victim of a mugging incident on Sunday hit the two armed men who 'robbed' him with his car. Both the suspects were injured as they fell off the motorcycle. They were then caught and beat up by passers-by, who then handed them over to the police. The suspects were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, Sachal Police Station's acting SHO Latifullah said that the arrested suspects snatched the mobile phone and cash of Rehmat Shah, who was in a white Suzuki Mehran near Madras Chowk Scheme 33. The robbers had removed the car keys from the ignition before heading off but the car's engine was still running and Rehmat sped after them, said the SHO, adding that Rehmat hit the robbers with his car.

The CCTV footage of the incident, available with The Express Tribune, shows the citizen hitting the vehicle of the alleged robbers with his car.

According to the SHO, the culprits were identified as Gulistan, son of Amanullah, and Ahmed Shah alias Dunger, son of Daad Gul, both residents of Machar Colony.

Weapons, a motorcycle, a stolen mobile phone and cash were seized from their possession, said the SHO. Past records are being checked and further investigation is under way, added Latifullah.
