ATHENS: Former Olympic and triple world champion Laure Manaudou, mounting a comeback after a two-year absence from swimming, won the 200m freestyle at a meeting. The 24-year-old Frenchwoman clocked 1 minute 59.30 seconds to edge American Megan Romano 1 minute 59.34 seconds. Manaudou’s winning time was well outside the 1 minute 55.52 seconds world record she set in Melbourne in 2007, which has since been broken by Italian Federica Pellegrini.
