Training of workforce must for tech advancement

Alvi says Japan, Germany and Silicon Valley willing to hire Pakistani graduates

ISLAMABAD: Taking full advantage of the digital revolution, Pakistan should focus on educating its human resources keeping in view the scope of employment and future needs of the market, stressed President Dr Arif Alvi.

“Training of human resources is a must to drive the engine of technological advancement and tap its full potential,” he said while addressing a conference titled “Sustainable Development in a Digital Society” at the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) on Monday.

“Fourth industrial revolution has started, making information and communication technology an integral part of routine life, like never before.”

He announced that in view of the future challenges, the Presidential Initiative for Artificial Intelligence and Computing had been introduced to train the youth in utilising technology for their personal benefit as well as for collective interest of the country’s economy.

He pointed to the importance of artificial intelligence in healthcare provision, agriculture and waste reduction in industrial and commercial operations.

He revealed that governments of Japan and Germany as well as the Silicon Valley had shown willingness to hire around 100,000 graduates each from Pakistan if they met the required standards.
