He also issued directives to quarters concerned for resolving the stalemate in the developmental work on Sakhara to Gabin Jabba Road within one week. He also directed for realistic alignment for the Matta bypass road further directing that an additional bypass from Matta Bazar should also be planned in order to curtail the existing congestion Matta Bazar.
While chairing the two different meetings on developmental schemes of Swat and other districts, the chief minister called for separate detailed presentations regarding the status of work on Swat Expressway and JICA assisted projects of rural roads throughout the province. Mahmood was briefed in detail regarding the status of works on different development schemes in Swat and Asian Development Bank assisted projects in the province.
With regards to the status of roads in Swat, the chief minister was informed that the construction work on Mangwaltan to Toha road has been completed for which Rs127 million were released out of the total allocated amount of Rs136 million.
The CM directed the Finance Department to ensure the release of Rs100 million in March next year to speed up the construction work on Kalam to Gabral road. The meeting was informed that Mingora-Jambil road and the 35km Manglawar to Malam Jabba road will be completed within the timeline.
He was briefed in detail regarding the work progress on Kalam to Gabral road, Mangwalatan to Toha road, Mingora-Jambil road, Shamozai Jabbagai road, Kohistangat Saidu Sharif to Loe bnarah road, Rahatkot Sakhra Road, construction of Takhta Band to Kabal bridge and Ningolai to Allabad bridge, Matta Bypass road, construction work on 23 Km Matta Fazal Banda road, flyovers on Mingora Bypass road, construction of Oughday to Kabal bridge.
With regards to the development of infrastructure the chief minister was informed regarding work progress on Civil Hospital Madian, Saidu Medical College, Jehanzeb College, District Jail Swat, RHC, Bar Shawar, RHC Tehsil Matta. The meeting was informed that 95% work has been completed regarding the establishment of an academic block in Saidu Medical College.
The construction work on Civil Hospital Madian and establishment of lecturer theaters, laboratory at Saidu Medical College, standardization of DHQs/THQs and District Jail Swat are expected to be completed by June 2020 whereas upgradation of THQ Hospital Kabal to category-C and construction of academic blocks in government Postgraduate Jehanazeb College are expected to be completed by June 2021.
With regard to development portfolio in the irrigation sector, the chief minister was briefed regarding the status of the work on Bagh Dehri irrigation scheme, development of irrigation facilities, construction of causeway and flood protection works, restoration of small irrigation channels and ponds in Tehsil Matta, construction of roads along natural drains, water channels and flood carrier channels in Tehsil Matta.
Progress on the construction of Canal Patrol Road in Mingora, construction of tube well and dug well in Tehsil Matta, improvement and development of irrigation facilities, construction of flood protection works and revamping of drains and Khwars, construction of flood protection works and water channels in Kabal, Ningolai and Kanju, Construction of flood protection works and water channels in Fateh Pur, Khwaza Khela and Charbagh, construction of Barawai irrigation scheme in Tehsil Matta, Reconstruction of Canal Patrol road, flood protection work in Tehsil Kabal and construction of Chuprial Channel and realignment of Nipkikhel Irrigation Channel was also reviewed in the meeting.
Mahmood directed the quarters concerned to make necessary changes in the proposed alignment for Matta bypass keeping in view the possible flood damages in future directing that the protection of population should also be ensured as much as possible. He said all the developmental schemes particularly road communication-related projects should be planned on sustainable lines in order to cope with the requirements of near future.
He stated that completion of ongoing road communication projects would open the scenic sites of the province for tourists and create employment opportunities. He also called for a separate presentation on the progress of rehabilitation and construction of rural roads throughout the province.
