A court has issued summons against Bollywood actor Ameesha Patel in an INR10 lakh cheque-bouncing case. The star has to appear before the Madhya Pradesh High Court on January 27 next year, reported Mid-Day.

Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Manish Bhatt issued the warrants on Wednesday after registering a complaint against the 43-year-old under section 318 of the Negotiable Instruments Act.

“The JMFC directed the actor to remain present before it on January 27,” petitioner Nisha Chhipa’s counsel, Durgesh Sharma, told reporters on Friday. According to him, Ameesha had borrowed the INR10 lakh from Chhipa for a film production.

“The actor had given a cheque of Rs 10 lakh to my client for repayment but it got dishonoured as she did not have adequate balance in her bank account,” Sharma added.

Ameesha made her acting debut in 2000 with the romantic thriller Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai, directed by Rakesh Roshan. She rose to prominence with the 2001 film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, which became one of the biggest hits in Bollywood.

Following this, she received critical recognition for her performance in the 2006 Ankahee. Subsequently, she featured in box office hits Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. and Bhool Bhulaiyaa. The latter proved to be her first commercial success in five years. In 2013, she made a special appearance in Race 2.

Recently, she entered the reality show Bigg Boss 13 with a twist. She was seen as the maalkin (owner) of the controversial house for the first week to give interesting tasks to the housemates.

Bunny Rabbit | 4 years ago | Reply Poor thing is caught in this glam world quagmire . coming from a big family , herself being a Masters holder , she could not make it big in showbiz and is refusing to look for alternative professions now -still waiting for that big elusive hit . I pity her . She is regaled to ribbon cuttings, mall openings .. like most 90's actresses.
