Islamabad police plans security detail for Sri Lankan cricket team

ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Islamabad Police Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar  Friday said that new recruitment in Islamabad  police had been made on purely merit and hoped that selected cops would serve professionally after completing their training.

Addressing the newly recruited policemen, he said that policemen would serve with best of their capabilities and show perseverance in accomplishment of their responsibilities.

The IGP said that their induction had been purely made on merit and regular training was being started to improve their skills and make them capable for effective policing.

He said that all training officials of Islamabad police were very much capable and hoped for delivering disciplined and professional training.

After completing training, the IGP said all policemen would contribute towards effective policing and to bring honor to the department through hard work.

The police chief said that community policing had been included as subject in curriculum during training and hoped that all policemen would accomplish their responsibilities in a professional manner after passing out from there.

Sri Lankan cricket team’s security

IGP Aamir chairing a meeting said that Islamabad Capital Territory Police would provide VVIP security cover to Sri Lankan team during their visit to twin cities.

The meeting reviewed security arrangements of the visit the team and decided to provide foolproof security and deploy commandos for their security.

The entry of irrelevant persons would be banned in the residential area of Sri Lankan team.

Special branch would allow the entry only through walk through gates in the hotel of team's residence, said a press release issued here on Friday.

The police would maintain close coordination with other law enforcement agencies for providing security to the guest team.

Senior police officers including DIG Security Waqar Ahmed Chohan, DIG Operations Waqar ud din Syed, DG Safe City, DIG Sarfraz Ahmed, AIG Special Branch Muhammad Suleman, SSP Traffic, SSP CTF and AIG Operations was attended the meeting and give their input for security arrangements of the Sri Lankan team.
