Dacoit killed, another injured in encounter

Police officials said that two robbers intercepted a car, attempted to rob the driver

FAISALABAD: One dacoit was killed while another sustained injuries during an encounter with a citizen in the area of Batala Colony police station early Friday morning.

Police officials said that two robbers intercepted a car near Babar Chowk, Satiana Road and attempted to rob the vehicle driver.

However, the car driver sped away. The robbers opened fire at the vehicle and injured a man identified as Anwar. Reportedly, nearby people gathered on-the-spot, and opened fire at the dacoits, killing one of them and severely injuring the other.

Police reached the crime scene and took the body into custody, which was later identified as Ali Raza. The police also arrested the injured dacoit who was identified as Tanveer. A case has been registered against the accused.
