Says profiteers should be jailed

LAHORE: Punjab Industries and Trade Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal presided over a meeting of the Task Force for Price Control at the chief minister’s office on Thursday where matters pertaining to monitoring the prices of essentials, the performance of price control magistrates and their training were reviewed.

Addressing the meeting, the minister said that prices are stabilising due to the efforts of the government. Hoarders should be booked while profiteers should be sent to jail, he maintained.

He directed to display panaflexes stating the prices of essentials at all shops. Strict action should be taken against complaints relating to profiteering and the complainant should be informed about the action taken against the complaint, he stated.

The minister also appreciated the efforts of the administration of the Sahiwal division in bringing stability in the prices of essentials. Apart from notified magistrates, no official should visit market places to monitor prices, he said.
