PESHAWAR: The opposition Jamaat-e-Islami — which is part of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Assembly under the banner of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal along with the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) — has submitted an adjournment motion over the cancellation of a test to be conducted by the National Testing Service (NTS) in the province.

The motion was submitted in the provincial assembly secretariat by JI MPA Haji Sirajuddin Khan, former senior provincial minister Inayatullah Khan, and reserved seat member Humaira Khatoon on Wednesday.

The motion states that the provincial education department had announced to hold NTS tests on November 24 for recruiting teachers in 14 districts of the province.

The candidates submitted millions of rupees in the form of fees. However, the government cancelled the test at the last minute when the answers were reportedly leaked.

This is a serious joke and a testament to the failure of the government, the notice said.

The motion posed that this is not the first time tests by the NTS have had to be cancelled and that the frequent recurrence of such events was a matter of concern. It called on the education department to expose the elements involved through a transparent inquiry. Moreover, the affected candidates should be compensated.
