PESHAWAR: To offer free treatment to women suffering from breast cancer, the provincial government on Tuesday announced that they will reserve an entire floor in the Institute of Hepatology while the necessary legislation for early detection of the disease will be done.

This was stated by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Health Minister Dr Hisham Inamullah Khan while addressing an awareness seminar on breast and cervical cancer in Peshawar on Tuesday.

“Women are an integral part of our society and we have a duty to protect them against ailments,” the health minister said, adding that there are around 90,000 women who suffer from breast cancer annually, of which 40,000 women die from this disease.

He added that they were striving to provide the best medical facilities to breast cancer patients.  He directed the relevant authorities to complete the first-ever breast cancer screening centre of the province as soon as possible.
