Price Control: No cheap ghee for Ramazan
Pakistan Vanaspati Ghee Mills Association (PVGMA) has refused to lower the price of ghee for Ramazan.

Pakistan Vanaspati Ghee Mills Association (PVGMA) has refused to lower the price of ghee for Ramazan.
The lowering had been requested by the Punjab government
Explaining the decision, the association said that when they lowered the prices for the month of Ramazan last year, they were charged by the Competition Commission with collusion to fix prices and fined Rs50 million.
A Punjab government spokesman said that the fine imposed last year was the result of a misunderstanding. He said the provincial government would explain to the Competition Commission that lowering prices in Ramazan was an attempt to provide relief to people and not the kind of collusive behaviour the commission needs to eradicate
The next meeting of PVGMA will be held on Monday.
