Four killed, five injured as rival gangs clash in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI/ ISLAMABAD: Police have arrested on Friday a man for killing his minor niece during an assault.

The suspect, according to the Airport Police Station officials, has confessed to his crime.

The victim’s father, Noorullah, told the policed that he made a living by buying and selling scrap from households and shops. On the night between Thursday and Friday, he came late to home and saw his daughter lying wrapped in a blanket in the courtyard of his small two-room house.

The father realised that the child was not sleeping, but was dead when he put her on the bed. Noorullah rushed to the nearby hospital, where doctors told him to take the body to a government hospital.

Accused in rape, murder of minor arrested from Rawalpindi

At District Head Quarters (DHQ) Hospitals, doctors stated on the physical condition of the body that the child was killed during the rape. The cause of death was suffocation caused by pressing the pillow on the nose.

ASP Civil Lines Benish Fatima reached Noorullah’s home with the police force.

Under her supervision, police collected evidence, recorded statements and registered an FIR on behalf of Noorullah.

The suspect, Noorullah’s brother Waliullah, was arrested within hours. He confessed to assaulting and killing the child.

CPO Rawalpindi Mohammad Faisal Rana said in a statement that police have expertly traced an innocent child abuse case; there was only one suspect in the case who was the uncle of the victim, police arrested him. He said that Police were collecting all the evidence to reach the logical conclusion of the case, the samples obtained from the girl's body are being sent to the Punjab Forensic Laboratory for DNA test while the DNA test of the accused will be conducted.

Sidara's funeral prayer was held in the graveyard near Car Chowk. On the incident the atmosphere of the entire area was mournful. The residents of the area have demanded that the murderer of a minor girl be punished.

Karachi youth killed in Islamabad

A youth was shot dead assassination style as he sat on a bench at Sector G-9 Park late on Thursday night in the remits of the Karachi company police station.

According to the police, the deceased named Laraib Hassan was sitting in the park with a woman, who is a resident of Sector G-9 1, when two unidentified suspects walked up to him shot him in the head and fled.

The victim died on the park bench where he was sitting with a single bullet to the head.

Laraib Hassan, a resident of Karachi, was a serving major in Pakistan Army posted in Attock. The woman he was sitting with has been identified as Alina Bukhari, an air hostess working with AirBlue and living at a hostel in Sector G-9/1.

On receiving news of the incident, the Operations DIG Waqarulddin Syed and other police officers reached the spot. The police seemed reluctant to share details about the woman.

On the other hand, the Operations DIG has taken notice of the incident and constituted two teams for investigation. The two teams have been made under the supervision of SP investigation and SP Saddar respectively. Both the teams will examine the site of murder and present their report to the DIG operation. The body of the slain youth has been shifted to the PIMS for post mortem.

In this regard, the SHO Karachi company police station Sub-inspector Shabbir Tanoli informed The Express Tribune that they have registered an FIR against unidentified assailants. The body was handed over to the heirs after legal formalities and autopsy, Tanoli said adding that he could not give any details because the investigation was at very initial stages.

In reply to a question, he said that the incident does not seem to be a result of a mugging as all the items of the youth including wallet are in the deceased’s pocket.

Four dead in gangland clash

A gangland clash left four people dead and five injured at the Dhok Kala Khan taxi stand in the Sadiqabad police station in the early hour of Friday.

The Chaudhry Group had ambushed Raja Group people in the area at around 1:20am. Firing between the two rivals lasted for more than half-an-hour.

However, three people from the Raja Group died on the spot while the third died in the hospital. The other four injured were in critical condition.

The deceased was identified as 22-year-old Abdullah, 34-year-old Zeeshan and 17-year -old Hamza. The fourth victim died during treatment in Benazir Bhutto Hospital.

The family of the deceased took the bodies and marched to the Faizabad Interchange chanting slogans against the Rawalpindi police. The affected group refused to take the bodies’ home until the arrest of the accused persons.

Court orders provision of Rao Anwar’s bail documents to parties

Rawalpindi Operations SSP Tariq Walayat convinced the protestors and they went home. Subsequently, an FIR was registered against the suspects nominated by Humza’s father Zahid Mahmood.

Police sources said that one of the deceased belonged to the Chaudhry Group, who have yet to file a case.

According to police, the clash occurred due to rivalry over an old litigation. Investigation SSP Mohammad Faisal said police have arrested two of the nominated suspects in the case.

He said that Mahmood had named 19 suspects and four unidentified people as suspects in the murder of his son, Humza and three other people. Of these suspects, Mahmood said, two have been arrested, while names of rest of the people have been sent to Interior Ministry for putting them on the exit control list.

SSP Faisal said police have recovered weapons used in the clash from the two arrested suspects.
