LAHORE: Punjab Industries and Trade Minister Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal has said that the provincial government, in line with the prime minister's vision, will continue to push industrialisation and growth across all manufacturing sectors for strengthening the national economy, which will generate ample job opportunities.

He made the remarks after inaugurating the three-day 11th Interiors Pakistan exhibition at the Expo Centre, Lahore.

The provincial minister voiced hope that the young leadership would play an effective role in accelerating the process of industrialisation, adding since industrialists and traders were the backbone of the economy, their problems would be resolved on a priority basis.

The minister emphasised that if the furniture manufacturing sector was organised on modern scientific lines as per international standards, it would help earn plenty of foreign exchange.

He was of the view that Pakistan had now come out of the economic crisis and the national economy was advancing towards stability.

He urged businessmen to work extensively for promoting the domestic industry as improvement in the industry would not only help in meeting local needs but would also lead to exports to the international market.

"All support will be provided for taking this exhibition to other countries," he added. "Joint efforts need to be made to gain optimum access to international markets for locally manufactured furniture and accessories," he remarked.

Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan Furniture Council Chief Executive Mian Kashif Ashfaq said the response to the exhibition from public and foreign furniture producers was tremendous and expressed optimism that in coming fairs more foreign furniture producers would display their products.
